The plant Processing of the waste

Processing of the waste

Waste disposal is a very important theme on which there is wide debate involving political forces, movements for the protection of the environment, journalists and public opinion. Economic and social progress has dictated an increase in consumption and in industrial production, thus leading to an increase in the production of waste. In some cases this has even lead to proper environmental emergencies. A sizable proportion of this waste is composed by industrial and dangerous waste. Safely processing dangerous waste means offering a vital service.

Barricalla has chosen to involve itself in this sector with commitment and determination, which have lead the plant in Collegno to be the first in Italy. Striving towards excellence in each phase of the industrial process, Barricalla has managed to become a “model plant” further improving standards in the processing and management of waste.

Given the peculiar nature of the waste being treated, particular attention is given to the whole management process, thus guaranteeing high levels of safety.

Types of processed waste

Barricalla processes both dangerous and non-dangerous industrial waste. The most frequent categories are:

  • Water purification sludge
  • Smoke abatement ash
  • Metallurgic industry dross
  • Asbestos
  • Sludge, muds and paint dust
  • Tank sludge
  • Drainage soil
  • Refuse from chemical and engineering industries
  • Dirty containers, rags and soaked papers

The plant does not process radioactive waste.
