The waste processed at the Barricalla plant can be a source of polluting substances, which could rise from the body of the dump, it appears then essential to perform monitoring of air quality so to avoid eventual pollution.
For this reason Barricalla assesses its emissions isolating the typical pollutants from waste processing activities, in order to do this it was necessary to have at disposal an environmental sample, so to avoid those pollutants, which could not be a consequence of the plant's activities, such as pollutants from the nearby ring road, from household heating, industrial activities and so on.
The monitoring of air has allowed, over time, to build an important and worthy collection of information. From this, new mathematical forecast models have been studied, with which Barricalla assesses the movement and concentrations of pollutants even when it is impossible to perform direct measurements.
